Description

Omega Centauri (NGC 5139) is a 17,090 light-years distant, and 150 light-years across, globular cluster in the constellation of Centaurus.
It is the largest globular cluster in the Milky Way and is estimated to contain approximately 10 million stars.
Omega Centauri is thought to have originated as the core remnant of a disrupted dwarf galaxy.
